Accessibility Statement
The Museum’s most recent success in addressing its quest to remove barriers that deny access to people with disabilities was to install a permanent, wheelchair accessible ramp for the Bauernschmidt Mansion.
While this has been an important first step, the ramp allows entry only to the first floor of the Mansion. This consists of the rental hall, an ADA compliant restroom with a diaper changing station, and a small kitchen.
Additionally, over the years, the Museum has taken a number of measures to provide access to visually, hearing, and mobility impaired individuals. Measures include:
Offering audio tours to visually impaired patrons on mobile devices, laptops, tablets, etc.
Providing a sign language guide for hearing impaired visitors
Waiving the fee to impaired visitors who request it and posting signs informing visitors of the option to have the fee waived
Newest Exhibits
Henrietta Lacks, a Black woman from Baltimore whose cells—taken without her consent—transformed modern medicine. Available with general admission.
Exhibit List
We have numerous exhibits available in both the main museum and the Mansion. The majority of exhibits are handicap accessible.
Guided Tours
We provide guided tours for small and large groups. Advanced reservations are appreciated and is important for successful booking!
Group Experiences
We welcome visitors without reservations. However, advanced reservations are recommended and required for parties of 10 or more. This allows us to serve you and your museum experience better.
